Homemade Playdough
There are so many great things about homemade play-dough!!! It is inexpensive because most of the ingredients needed you probably already have in your house and for little ones who still think everything is for eating, us mommies can rest easy knowing it's all natural.
This is the easiest playdough with the least amount of ingredients that I have found. It store for a few weeks in a sealed container in the fridge.
1 1/4 cup flour
3/4 cup salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup water
food coloring optional
Mix all of the ingredients together (you can add a few drops of food coloring at this point)...it will be sticky...scoop it into a pan on medium heat...you will begin to see the dough turning a milky white color (without coloring)...flip the playdough around until most of it is now the milky white color. Put aside to cool then roll into a ball and enjoy!!!
The Benefits of playdough for toddlers
1. increases hand-eye coordination
2. develops fine motor skills which are needed for other tasks such as using a fork or holding a crayon
3. discovery of different textures
4. creativity
5. cause and effect 'when I push this toy in the dough it makes a mark'
Have fun with your little ones and allow them to explore using different objects.
