New Years Eve Countdown Bags 2013

New Years Eve Countdown Bags 2013

Last year I did our first set of new years count down bags, you can see that post HERE

I used the same idea this year but switched things up a bit! My kiddos are still young so like last year, they will celebrate New Years at 9pm in
California and watch the ball drop in New York!

Here are our bags this year!

5 O'Clock
I put this sign in the bag but we will have all the indigence to make our own pizza for dinner
and some BIG punching balloons to keep them busy while the pizza is cooking.

6 O'clock
My son loves dress up anything, so when
I saw these fun masks at the Dollar tree I knew I had to put them in a bag! He will love them!

7 O'clock

I found these fun light up wands at target for $2 each in the party section. They light up and blink. I think the kiddos are going to have fun with these!

 8 O'clock
glow sticks! a favorite in our household!
9 O'clock
if baby girl is still awake at this point she can celebrate East Coast time with us but chances are it will be the Hubby, Cruzer and I celebrating with these noise makers.
   10 O'clock
With both kiddos in bed now it's time for the Hubby and I to cuddle up with a movie and snacks!
 11 O'clock
Hot coco time!
12 O'clock
Time to get crazy with the Sparkling Cider LOL were not big drinkers, can you tell ;)

Happy New Year!!!

Cinnamon ornaments

Do you have applesauce? Do you have Cinnamon? That's all you need to make these ornaments....and they smell delicious!!

The original recipe came from here

Here is how I made it...

directions
1. Mix applesauce and cinnamon in small bowl until a smooth ball of dough is formed. (You may need use your hands to incorporate all of the cinnamon.)  roll dough to 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch thickness between two sheets of plastic wrap. (I used wax paper) Peel off top sheet of wax paper. Cut dough into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Make a hole at top of ornament with drinking straw or skewer.

2.  to dry ornaments at room temperature, allow them to sit on the wax paper for a few hours and turn. after a few more hours carefully place them on wire rack. Let stand 1 to 2 days or until thoroughly dry, turning occasionally.

3. Insert ribbon through holes and tie to hang. Decorate with puffy paint!

Here's a picture from last years creations

Hang them on the tree or on a gift! I made a batch of these 5 years ago and every year when we take out our Christmas box, these are the first things we smell!! They keep their sent!

ENJOY!

Thanksgiving

Here is a compilation of things we have done for Thanksgiving this year at home with my own kiddos, in my preschool class as well as things my kiddos have done at preschool and daycare.
So here is goes.........
We read some Thanksgiving books,

We watched this....

In my class we played with feathers  and playdough.

We made a group project with contact paper or 'sticky paper' I got the idea from Deborah over at Teach preschool, you can see hers HERE

I took contact paper laid it out on the table, I put 2 eyes down, beak and a gobble, then I laid down the turkey body and let the kids put his feathers on!

We then stuck him on our classroom door.

We of course made our handprint turkeys!
We talked a lot about what we are thankful for!
I wrote down each day of the month and everyday a student would share what they were thankful for!

We made turkey hats....

A fellow teacher found this on Pinterest, I will try to find the link.

My son made this adorable thankful tree in his class. (he has some good teachers!) ;)
My one year old daughter made these at her daycare :)

Ok so thanks to pinterest and my awesome fellow teachers I wanted to share this cool find!
 Indian Corn!!
I never knew Indian Corn was sooo cool!!! Okay so we did a few things with it and I didn't take pictures of it :( boo.....anywhoo....
I told my fellow teacher about how I saw that if you put indian corn in water it will sprout.....so we had a little scientific competition, I put mine in a bin with shallow water and she put hers in a shallow bin with soil.....I felt very confident mine would grown and I am still convinced that it would have grown much more if one of my little preschoolers didn't have an obsession with water and if he didn't feel the need to dump out the container every day LOL....anyways, hers grew and it looked awesome but here is proof from growing in prek that it does in fact grown in just water!
UPDATE: here!! Our corn is growing out of control this year!!!

another one of my awesome fellow teachers came into the staff room and said....we just popped popcorn....from the indian corn.....WHAT!!?? Cool! She said they put a half of the indian corn into a brown lunch bag and put it into the microwave....and out popped pop corn....imagine that!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, I have so much to be thankful for and I am looking forward to a 4 day weekend to spend with my kiddos!!!
