Got Broken Crayons? Don't throw them away!!! Make new ones!!!

If you have kids, chances are you have a few broken crayons lying around. Get a box or a baggie and start to collect your broken crayons, after awhile you will have enough to make new crayons...here's how you do it:
It is so simple and fun! For older kids you can even incorporate science into it by talking about solids and liquids!  For the younger ones...it's just too fun!!!

First collect your broken crayons and unwrap them. We sorted ours! Sorting is a great activity to do for learning colors!

Then place them in a muffin tin.(No need to grease the pan!!!) We have a tin that we use specifically for crayon making but if you are using a tin you want to bake in later on use cupcake or muffin liners!

We wanted rainbow color crayons so we mixed the colors in each tin!

Preheat your oven to 400* bake them for about 8-10 minutes or until all of the crayons are melted! Place them directly in the freezer for about 5-7 minutes or until hardened!

Turn the tray over and out pops your new crayons!!!
Let them sit until room temp. and ENJOY! The rainbow crayons are fun to make because when the kids color with them different colors show up on the paper!

I just bought this tin at Joann's Fabric and I'm going to make some Eater themed crayons for my son's Easter basket!!

These are going to turn out so cute!!!

ENJOY!!!!
